Maddy
Curtis

Bio

Maddy Curtis, born in the Bay area of California, has been singing her entire life. Her tone and phrasing harken back to the great jazz vocalists of yesteryear like Ella, Doris, and Judy. Critics have described her performances as "hauntingly beautiful" (DC Metro Theatre Arts) and "soulful beyond her years" (Simon Cowell, American Idol Season 9).

Since graduating from Catholic University of America's music school in DC with her vocal performance degree in 2015, Maddy has sang all around the DMV area and Asheville, NC  at jazz clubs, vineyards, theaters, and concert halls with a variety of ensembles and musicians. She recently moved to Richmond, VA with her little family and is starting to delve into its rich, acclaimed music scene much to her delight. Maddy's love of beloved jazz standards is evident through her robust knowledge of nearly sixty in her ongoing repertoire and rotation. Her jazzy originals that she weaves into her shows call back to that era, but with a modern twist of content and feeling.

Maddy is also a proud member of the Actor's Equity Association and no stranger to the musical theater or opera stage. She dips her toes into any musical genre she has the pleasure of being a part of.  She was most recently seen in Asheville Musical Theatre's Songs for a New World and some of her other favorite roles include: Jo March in Little Women the Musical, Nancy in Oliver!, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Eponine in Les Miserables.
